BombTech Wedges Review: Pros & Cons

The BombTech wedges are 304 stainless steel irons specially designed with a bigger club face and deeper grooves to add to its forgiveness. Plus, the heavier club weight gives it more stability. So, these are ideal if you’re a beginner looking for extra help in your short game (on a budget).

BombTech has sold over half a million clubs in just over a decade, partly attributed to its aggressive pricing. In this BombTech wedges review, I’ll review what they offer.

In my BombTech golf wedges review, I’ll dive deep into their pros, cons, and notable features. So continue reading to know whether these are the right wedge sets for you.

Verdict

I’ll be honest – I was skeptical about their quality and questioned, “Is BombTech golf legit?” After reviewing these clubs, I must say that I’m pleasantly surprised.

The BombTech team delivered something no one in the golf market has done, i.e., affordable and high-performance golf clubs without compromising quality.

They’ve got good spin, launch the ball at good speeds, and have a competitive carry distance.

For all beginner golfers who aren’t committed to a particular brand, the BombTech golf wedges are the perfect starter set to get you accustomed to the greens.

If you’re struggling with your short game, check out this article for some of the most forgiving wedges.

Who Are They Best For?

These clubs are designed for high handicappers, not the low handicap golfer. Sully designed these wedges for the beginner golfer who wants forgiving wedges.

The deeper grooves offer maximum spin, and the larger clubface means your ball will almost always hit the spot and fly off the tee.

It’s the perfect set of wedges to help the newer golfers increase confidence and consistency.

On the other hand, if you’re a mid or low-handicapper, these clubs aren’t for you.

You’ll find them rather inconvenient and heavy. But that’s alright because BombTech is marketing these clubs for the beginner golfer. The team says that these clubs aren’t made for golfers on tour.

How I Reviewed These Clubs

bombtech wedges featured image

I’m an experienced golfer and writer, and I extensively tested and researched the BombTech wedges to understand how these clubs would perform compared to other wedges on the market.

Then, an editor reviewed and fact-checked the list according to our product review process. Finally, we conduct regular content audits to update and revise our reviews to ensure you receive the latest information.

I considered these criteria for my BombTech wedges review: cost, distance, spin, control, feel, appearance, sound, launch, and accuracy.

We can bring these reviews to you through the small commissions we earn if you buy through the links below.

Features & Benefits of the BombTech Wedge Set

Here are a few features that I analyzed the BombTech wedge set on.

Loft and Spin Speeds

The BombTech golf wedge set contains three wedges at 52°, 56°, and 60-degree lofts.

These three wedges are more than enough for an amateur golfer and cover a range of distances.

I analyzed the performance of the wedges, and I must say, the results had me shocked. These $100 wedges gave metrics similar to clubs 2-3 times their price.

The total spin from the BombTech 56° wedge was comparable to that from the Ping Glide wedge.

If the 56° wedge is your choice, check out this article for some of the best 56-degree wedges on the market.

Design and Technology

BombTech wedges don’t come with inexpensive Chromoly steel or fancy materials in higher-end clubs.

Still, BombTech provides simple, no-nonsense clubs that get the job done.

The club head is made from 304 stainless steel, so you don’t need to stress about it catching rust over time, and the shaft is stepped steel.

I’m shocked at how they delivered these materials at such low prices.

Feel

Regarding the finish, these wedges are quite sleek and have a nice and stylish silver finish. Plus, the company recently launched its limited edition black finish stainless steel clubs.

While the club and shaft material looks quite promising, I will say that I was a little disappointed in the quality of the material used for the grip. It feels cheap and messy, but performance-wise, it still gets the job done, so I don’t fully hate it.

Durability

The BombTech golf clubs aren’t made from the strongest and most durable material, so they won’t stand firm against excessive wear and tear. But given the price point, they will last you a good few years, which is more than you can ask for.

When spending almost a grand on golf clubs, you’d want them to last a good amount of time. But this is the best part of BombTech clubs – once they start to wear out, you can replace them with a new set.

Forgiveness

These wedges are made especially for the beginner or everyday golfer who tends to hit off-center.

We’ve all tried swinging our clubs at full speed, missing the ball, and hitting only air. Even as a beginner, this can be quite an embarrassing ordeal.

Luckily, with the extended club face of the BombTech wedges, the chances of hitting a whiff are decreased significantly.

The deeper grooves also ensure that your shots are a lot more controlled. This means that even if your swing isn’t optimal, you’ll still see the ball fly over long distances.

For an amateur golfer, features such as these can help build confidence, which can, in turn, lead to better overall performance.

Budget

If you’re on a strict budget, these clubs are for you. They’re not the cheapest on the market, but they’ve got incredible value at their price.

Most clubs cost upwards of $100-$200, and since you have to buy multiple, you run out of budget soon. This is why many beginner golfers buy used clubs for a fraction of the price.

But hey, beginner golfers also deserve to experience the solid feel of a new club, and BombTech gives them just that without breaking the bank.

Things to Consider Before Buying

Here are some things you must consider before buying a set of BombTech wedges:

  • Budget: Understand your budget and buy accordingly. I don’t think you’d find cheaper wedges than these, though.
  • Wedge Type: You might not need all three wedges by BombTech. See which ones you require, and get those if you’re on a budget. A pitching and a sand wedge should be enough for a new golfer. A lot of golfers don’t have the lob wedge anyway.
  • Your Skill & Current Wedges: If you’re new to golf, the BombTech wedges are a great option. However, if you’re experienced, I recommend you check out some other wedges, such as the Vokey SM9 (my favorite).
