Knowing the most accurate distance to the green will assist you in playing better golf and reducing your scores. There is nothing as frustrating as guessing the distance, pulling a club, and hitting the ball long or leave it short in a hazard.

GolfBuddy first launched the GolfBuddy Voice Golf GPS rangefinder in May 2012 as the first GPS device that provided audible feedback on distances.

This was followed by the release of the improved GolfBuddy Voice 2 Golf GPS device in 2019. It retains most of the noteworthy features while improving on some features and adding new functionality making it more user-friendly and effective.

It is similar in appearance to the original GolfBuddy Voice Golf GPS with added functionality without increasing the compact size and weight. It retains the 1-inch LCD enabling you to view the list of features.

GolfBuddy added some color options to make it attractive to a wider range of golfers allowing the more outgoing personalities to express themselves.

Battery life was a concern that many golfers raised on the original product and GolfBuddy addressed this by adding a considerably longer lifespan to the updated version.

Furthermore, GolfBuddy added approximately 2,000 courses to the already vast selection bringing the total preloaded courses up to 40,000 from around the globe.

More distances are now available for display as is the number of languages to cater to a wider target market.

GolfBuddy Voice 2 GPS unit and rangefinder are designed to afford golfers to have access to a small and compact device that is lightweight and easy to use.

The crystal clear 1-inch is designed to display large fonts making it easy to read in any weather conditions, even bright sunlight.

For ease of navigation, there are a total of 5 buttons, 2 on either side of the device and a button on the front enabling audible feedback. Adjusting the volume is made simple with increase/decrease buttons on the right-hand side of the device.

Turning the device on and off is straightforward by using the notch on the left-hand top side of the device. The first time you turn the device on you will be greeted by the voice which will provide instructions.

Audible feedback can be muted/unmuted by pressing bot the volume buttons at the same time.

A clip at the back of the device is aimed to increase portability and easy access when out on the course.

To suit a wider range of golfers it is now available in Grey/Silver, Black, and Blue.

Unit of measure can be changed by holding the Volume increase button in for a second. The possible units of measure (Y or M) will then be displayed for selection. Once you have selected the unit of measure, it will be displayed above the distances on the LCD.

A small GPS unit is handy for golfers that don’t want any extra gear to carry along and risk losing.

This compact device measures 1.76 inches long, 1.76 inches wide, and 0.49 inches high.

It is lightweight weighing in at a mere 1.02 ounces making it easy to attach to your cap or belt.

A clear 1-inch monochrome LCD with a silver background and black text is surrounded by a white cover.

It can display the distances to the front. Center, and back of the green as well as a relatively antique-looking green layout in the Dynamic Green View.

Distances can be displayed in yards or meters.

It is possible to flip the display upside down to make it easier to read when attached to your belt. To flip the screen, you press the left-hand lower button and the volume decrease button at the right bottom at the same time and hold them down until the screen flips

Providing audio feedback is one of the major attractions of the GolfBuddy Voice 2 Golf GPS device. It is a splendid feature to have available but could be distracting to players in your group.

Fortunately, you can turn the volume down or mute it. Audio levels can be adjusted between level 5 and level 0.

There are 8 languages as standard on the device that can be selected from the settings menu. Standard languages include English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean but it can be upgraded to 11 languages.

A selection of male or female voices for audio is available at no extra cost on the GolfBuddy Manager Program. This can be changed on the settings menu.

Wearable Options

To increase the portability of the Voice 2 on the golf course, GolfBuddy added a few options enabling you to wear the device on your arm, belt, or cap.

Standard on the device is a small clip at the back enabling you to attach it to your belt, cap, or bag.

A watch strap, belt clip, retractable clip, or cart mount are available as optional extras if you do not prefer to use the built-in clip.

Wrist strap

The durable wrist strap enables you to wear the voice 2 GPS as a watch on your wrist. It is lightweight and compact enough not to have an impact on your swing.

High-quality assurance standards will ensure that the device remains sturdy even when wearing it on your wrist.

Straps are available in white, black, and orange.

Belt clip

A belt clip is exactly what it says. It enables you to clip the Voice 2 GPs to your belt and flip the display upwards making it easy to read the large font numbers.

Retractable clip

The retractable clip is linked to a 26-inch retractable cord that you can attach to your bag or belt making it easy to access and reduce the possibility of you losing the device. The cord has a carabiner clip to easily clip onto a belt or bag.

Dynamic Green View

The Dynamic Green View GolfBuddy offers you a view of the outline of the shape of the green and your angle of approach

In addition to the outline, it displays the hole number, par, and right/left green where available.

For increased accuracy, you can adjust the measuring point to multiple areas on the green. It can still display the distances to the front, middle, or back of the green or the selected point only.

The improved GolfBuddy Voice 2 displays the yardages to the front, middle, and back of the green on your screen with the center distance as the default and the front and back to the side in smaller font.

Holding the voice feedback button on the front of the device will toggle between the front, center, and back distances.

GolfBuddy Voice 2 allows you to track the distance of your shot starting the tracking at point of departure by pushing the bottom left button once and then again when you arrive at your golf ball location.

From several tests conducted the GolfBuddy Voice 2 performed well and provided accurate distances to within 1 yard when compared to laser rangefinders.

GolfBuddy Voice 2 GPS is a Bluetooth device that can connect to any compatible app quite easily. Bluetooth can also be used to update the courses on the device.

The battery life was a limitation on the original GolfBuddy Voice Golf GPS which the company addressed, and the new device offers up to 14-hours of battery life compared to the 10 hours of the original device.

Recharging the battery can be completed in approximately 2 hours with the wall charger.

For an emergency, car chargers are available at extra cost.

Preloaded on the Voice 2 Golf GPS you will now find over 40,000 courses in 170 countries around the globe with free updates should you find your favorite course is not on the list.
