Signature Hole – The 388-meter par 4 14th hole is the signature hole and offers risk and reward off the tee.

Attack the island fairway in the center and shorten your approach shot, or play to the right and leave a long 2nd into the green.

Described by many as “The Augusta of the North” it features 2 very different 9s. The woodside front 9 and the waterside back 9 live up to their affectionate titles.

Tree-lined fairways call for accurate tee shots while the man-made ponds can create havoc with your score on the last 9 and come into play on 8 of the holes.

Signature Hole – Plantation Lakes golf course has only recently opened the 2nd 9- holes to complete an 18-hole layout.

Some new very challenging holes will no doubt vie for the signature hole in the future.

Plantation lakes back 9 is relatively new, but the undulations and challenging layout is still fun and offers a great experience for every golfer.

The greens are firm, fast, and true and if your putting stroke is on for the day, expect to score well.

Signature Hole – The 420-meter par 4 15th is a fantastic hole. “Husbands run”, a creek that runs down the right side and then crosses the fairway just in front of the green, is ever-present.

The final challenge is the contoured green, and making par is an achievement.

3 x 18-hole courses set in the Brandywine Valley, offer a variety of golf and can be enjoyed by all.

The championship course with its natural dips and bumps requires some versatile ability to score well on this challenging layout. Well-positioned bunkers and contoured greens keep the golfer honest.

The par 61 short course is ideal for youngsters learning to play.

A Jack Nicklaus signature course that offers an experience of note.

Pine forests line some fairways, and the marshland holes offer variety and natural hazards.

Strategically placed bunkers require shot-making and distance control.

The big hitters will also enjoy some of the wide-open fairways, with the Assawoman Bay coastline creating a picturesque setting.

Don’t be mislead by the beauty, as the golfer will require his A-game to conquer the layout.

White Clay Creek offers the best of all worlds to the many golfers that play here.

The greens are slick and smooth and bunkers are ever-present.

An extremely tough course to walk and select the correct tee for your ability as some forced carries will catch you out and destroy your score.

6. Bear Trap Dunes Golf Club | Black Grizzly

Signature Hole – The Grizzly 9 brings water into play on 7 of the holes, while the long par 3 3rd on Black, has water on the right, to keep the golfer honest.

The courses are great for walking and also a favorite among the women golfers.

A feature is the large greens with subtle breaks that could result in a few 3-putts.

The wind is often a factor, so good ball control is a bonus.

Add the fantastic scenery on offer and this is a “must play” when in the area.

These 2 x 9 holes formed the original 18-hole layout and all have a links-style feel when playing.

The use of the natural terrain, set in sand dunes, with tough wetland grass areas alongside the fairways, makes an interesting course for all skill levels.

The 393-meter par 4 7th hole is a dogleg off the tee, with 2 forced carries into the green, over penal waste.

The 519-meter par 5 11th has water on the right and the approach is over a marshy area.

A golf strategist’s delight. Forced carries and high native grass await the adventurous golfer and the driver is not the option on all the holes.

5 risk and reward holes on offer and throughout the track different shape and size greens will test the putting stroke on the day.

Signature Hole – No defined signature hole but the 312-meter short dogleg par 4  6th and the 396-meter par 4 7th, with a very intimidating tee shot, are favorites with the regulars.

Once a farmyard, this course with 80 bunkers, water hazards, and heavily contoured greens, has it all to test every skill level.

It is a links-feel track and has an interesting rule, for property backyards that border some fairways. They are deemed hazards and not out of bounds, and this assists in keeping the pace of the round on track.
