But it only beats out the second-longest hole by a yard.

All of these holes far exceed my longest hole. I tackled the 558-yard par-5 at Altrincham Golf Course, near Manchester, UK, but it doesn’t quite compare to the 800-plus yards you’ll face on these holes. Let’s drive on!
1. Links Golf Course, Hole 9
- Length: 842 yards (770 meters)
- Location: Post Falls, Idaho
- Par: 6
At the tee, you’ll see tall grass on either side and a knoll on the left. Hit it long enough, or you’re going to have to hack your way out.
When you finally make the green, you’re challenges aren’t finished. The green has two levels, with a three-club difference from the front to the back.
Officially, it’s 842 yards. However, there are conflicting reports at 777 or 642 yards. I called the course to verify, and it is 842 yards.

2. Meadows Farm Golf Course, Hole 12
- Length: 841 yards (769 meters)
- Location: Virginia
- Par: 6
Meadows Farm Golf Course has once claimed the title of the longest hole, but we’re here to set the record straight. Hole 12 sits at #2, by 1 yard.
However, that doesn’t stop the par 6 golf course hole from being a standout, though. As you drive, you are surrounded by huge trees before meeting a pond on the right.
I have played a hole with trees on either side; it is satisfying when your driver sends it straight and long.
It looks tough but well worth a go if you are within driving distance of the course.

3. Links at Kahite Golf Course, Hole 9

- Location: Vonore, Tennessee
- Par: 6
On the 9th, a par 6 hole, golfers face a very straight and long challenge. It is the joint highest par golf hole in this list and the others in the top three.
Golfers might agree that the course’s surroundings are some of the most picturesque you can find. The Tellico Lake wraps around the course with the Great Smoky Mountains offering a stunning backdrop.
You may not know that the course played host to the 2009 and 2010 PGA Tour Nationwide Open Qualifier.
4. The Reserve at Moonlight Basin, Hole 17
- Length: 777 yards (710 meters)
- Location: Big Sky, Montana
- Par: 5
This Jack Nicklaus-designed hole is a thing of beauty. As you drive off, you are faced with the Spanish Peaks ahead of you which must be a pinch-me moment for golfers involved.
It is the longest par 5 in the US. A condor is just a pipe dream on this hole.
The hole drops 250 feet between the tee and the green, so consider that when thinking about roll. This is pretty similar to Gatlinburg Golf Course in Tennessee. The 12th hole, dubbed ‘Sky High’ drops 200 feet from tee to green, offering some serious roll time.
5. TPC Colorado, Hole 13
- Length: 773 yards (707 meters)
- Location: Berthoud, Colorado
- Par: 5
The 13th here is fittingly named ‘Longer Still.’ Golfers will want to know that it bends round to the left, and they must avoid the set of bunkers that wait for them on the left corner of the hole.
It is well known for being the longest hole on the Korn Ferry Tour, the developmental tour for the PGA Tour.
You could land a (Boeing) 747 out there.
